The introduction to the power of the Internet as a tool for investigative journalists, the concept of open data, introduction to work with specialized software tools adapted for everyday use in the newsroom were just some of the topics covered in the training for investigative journalism with digital tools held on 19 and 20 November 2016 in Skopje.
at the training conducted within the EU project “Investigative reporting to boost reforms” online sources of public information in Macedonia and techniques for their security were introduced to journalists , filtering and analysis. Google as a platform was represented by another point of view, by introducing advanced techniques and under platforms, specialized for journalists. In that context, it was worked on methods for investigations through social networks. At the training were made contacts for providing support from software engineers, especially in specific cases when it comes to large databases.
The training consisted the visualization as a key element for the presentation of the conclusions of the quantitative research, processed through open platforms for presentation, accessible to every journalist as Infogr.am and Piktochart as well as practical preparation of charts and interactive info graphics, appropriate for the audience on the web.
Besides the exercises, by working in groups were set aside and developed researches and ideas aimed at journalists after the workshop to ensure, through the knowledge gained in the training to realize in their media.
